Sir Ed Davey, who is co-leading the Liberal Democrats, has written to the Prime Minister, urging him to abolish often harmful and discriminatory Section 60 "suspicionless" Stop-and-Search powers.
Kate Smith, Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner candidate, agrees and says, "Normal Stop-and-Search exists for good reasons, but under suspicionless Stop-and-Search by Police, a black person is 47 times more likely to be stopped and searched than a white person. Too often it seems just being black is enough for someone (like Team GB sprinter Bianca Williams) to be treated like a criminal.

LAYLA LISTENS ... to The Midlands - Saturday 6th June 2020
Online meeting + Q&A with Layla Moran
This is for all members in the East Midlands & West Midlands Regions. Layla will be opening with a talk on her work during the ongoing coronavirus crisis, and looking to how we could shape society after it ends.
As I write this, it is the final day before the UK leaves the European Union. It is a sad day, but it is still only one day. Brexit is far from over - and for many people it won't be until after the transition period ends that we will finally realise what Brexit meant.
I want to say how proud I am of all Liberal Democrats - members, supporters, and voters. Right through from the referendum, and two general elections, it has been a privilege to campaign alongside friends and make the case for a strong UK inside a strong EU.
